Recently, as a state delegate she represented Hawaii in the Miss Teen United States National Pageant which was held on July 13-14, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was honored with two prestigious awards “Miss Congeniality 2011” and also the “Oprah Winfrey Award”. She has done us proud showing that Hawaii truly is the Aloha State.
Samantha Iha-Preece accredited Myron B. Thompson Academy for her many accomplishments: “Myron B. Thompson academy benefited me in becoming a more responsible and well rounded young adult, and also taught me not only time management but also to always strive for excellence in everything I do. In addition, they also taught me the importance of giving back. I would like to thank all of Myron B. Thompson Academy’s staff including my principal Ms. Oshiro, my two counselors Mr. Sumiye and Ms. Nakasone, and all my teachers for their constant support, inspiration, and preparation towards me and my future. As a four-year student in MBTA’s Performing Arts class, I would like to give a special thanks to Ms. NJ, my performing arts teacher who over the years has helped mold me into a successful performer. Lastly, a warm Aloha to my friends and students of Myron B. Thompson Academy for making my high school experience an exciting one. Myron B. Thompson isn’t just an online charter school, it’s my second family.”
