The world is your child’s classroom at Myron B. Thompson Academy (MBTA), a New Century Public Charter School that takes a truly innovative approach at educating Hawaii’s youth.
As a front-runner in the future of education, MTBA blends digital classrooms, technological advances, and engaging curriculum to provide your child with all of the tools and personal attention to make the most of their primary and secondary education experience. MBTA is a publicly funded school, and there is no tuition.
MBTA’s K through 6th grade curriculum is a closely monitored home-based program, where parent mentors and certified MBTA teachers/staff work closely together to provide students with a hands-on, high-quality education, interdisciplinary projects and field study. In this program, MBTA provides the course work and educational tools to parent mentors, who then administer them to the students at home.
MBTA’s 7th through 12th grade curriculum blends online courses with face to-face learning. Students work closely with their teachers in a digital learning environment on their core-subject classes. For electives, students may enroll in face-to-face classes that appeal to their interests, such as MBTA’s award-winning digital media courses, performing arts, guitar and classes provided through the Honolulu Academy of the Arts.
Accelerated courses in MBTA’s secondary program offer many resources to assist their students, including tutoring, mentoring, one-on-one meetings with counselors and teachers, and technology-based resources.
For Hawaii students enrolled in other schools that still wish to take part in MBTA’s state-of-the-art academic programs, the school offers the Thompson Extension Academy (TEA), where students may take additional courses for no charge during the school year. Summer programs are also available for a small fee.
For more information on how to become a part of MBTA’s groundbreaking academic experience, please call 441-8012 or visit the MBTA website at http://www.ethompson.org.

Summer school isn’t for everyone, but at the Myron B. Thompson Academy (MBTA) it is! Students who enroll in MBTA’s summer program are able to hold a summer job, get a jump start on credits for the next school year, or make up a class or two, while still participating in leisure activities that make their summer break so rewarding.
Interested in being a part of this 21st century learning environment? Then don’t delay! Applications for Myron B. Thompson Academy’s (MBTA) summer school program and the upcoming 2010-2011 school year are now being accepted.
