National Scripps Spelling Bee: held on January 27, 2010

Trevor and Alek participated in a mixed-grade level competition of 4-6th MBTA graders. Then, they were both invited to participate in the Honolulu District Spelling Bee, which was held on Wednesday, March 3. Trevor Ahern, our school champion, earned excellent standing as a top ten district finalist out of thirty 5th through 8th grade finalists. Statewide Semi-Finalist: Aleksandr Baldwin
Alek will compete in the state competition on April 9, 2010 at the Hawaii Convention Center. Semi-finalists were determined by a qualifying test submitted by all school-level champions. Typically, they have scored in the top 100 finalists within the state. Eleven 4-6th graders participated in this competition conducted in a Jeopardy-like format.
